Since 2012, Apples & Pears has given young people, their families and our volunteers the opportunity to discover inspiring educational, social and cultural activities through awarding grants to organisations who have run or hosted our group trips programme.
Our partners have included schools, nurseries, women’s refuges, community spaces and specialist charities working with primary age children in the greater London area – we’ve loved being a part of such an incredible community. 2019 will be our final (and biggest) year as a charity.
Our trips have proved fantastic forums for communities to spend time, learn, explore (and have fun!) together.
Whether its been primary schools or nurseries looking to craft fun, accessible opportunities for parents to engage with their children’s education, theatres working to open up their doors to all or refuges creating safe environments for women and children to explore new areas and services – we’ve worked with our partners to shape the trips into meaningful projects built around the needs of their communities.
In 2018/19, our grants will benefit over 6,000 Londoners from 90+ schools and charities in London with 100% of donations going to projects!
Check out our latest trip case studies! From helping migrants settle into London to promoting access to the arts, we have a trip for everything!
Over 7 years, we’ve averaged £5 (plus gift aid) to enable a child to go on one of our trips! Find out more about our model.
Once funded, our partners run Apples & Pears trips across London on most weekends. An average of 15 families, two project partner staff members and two of our volunteers take part each time. Venues have included the Natural History Museum, the Cutty Sark, the Olympic Park and Half Moon Theatre.
